Every Nuance project has one thing in common: Yaussy quality. It’s a point of pride, born from the values passed down by Mack Yaussy, who started the company in 1993. That quality shows in all that we do – from the smallest handyman or painting project, to major kitchen and bath remodels.
Nuance has a diverse workforce with extensive experience in all trades, and we work only with the finest craftsmen within each building trade.
It’s your project, but it’s also our reputation and we take both seriously.
The Nuance Story
In 1993, after proudly serving in the U.S. Army for over three decades, Mack and his sons started a power washing business. In 1995 Nuance began to shift into production painting and finished carpentry. By 1996, the foundation for what Nuance would become was set.
Over the next 12 years Nuance continued to grow and expand their residential painting and Virginia bathroom remodeling divisions, building relationships with homeowners, real estate agents, property managers and designers. Nuance has always thrived on its compassion for people, and we as a company enjoy transforming houses into homes, making them more functional, comfortable and beautiful.
Today, Nuance continues to be a family-owned and operated business specializing in Northern Virginia kitchen and bathroom design, as well basement remodeling, patios, and more – all with Jason leading a team of skilled craftsmen to help carry on his father's legacy.
Nuance is a Virginia Class “A” Licensed and Insured contracting company. Since opening in 1993 Nuance has treated every client like part of the family, and it is this personal service and attention to detail that sets Nuance apart from our competition.
When most people spend 31 years in the military, they call it a career. For Mack, it was just the beginning. After three decades in the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam and the Gulf War, Mack came home to his wife and three boys, Brian, Kevin and Jason to start a small painting company.
With a combination of discipline, attention to detail, and an unrivaled respect for his clients, Mack set the stage for what Nuance would grow into – a legacy Jason keeps alive today.
Principal and Designer
The youngest of Mack’s three sons, Jason now manages Nuance’s day-to-day operations while remaining “hands-on” with every project and taking time to spend with his own family.
With an instinct for delivering client’s dream spaces, Jason’s construction skills and creative designs are the backbone of the business. He’s a VA Class “A” State licensed, EPA Certified insurance restoration expert; an interior and exterior finish carpentry authority; a whiz at tile, stone, concrete and metal fabrication; and knowledgeable in soil grading, drainage, waterproofing, insulation, and much more.
Needless to say, Jason has the skill and drive to carry forward Mack’s legacy and guide Nuance
through the decades ahead.
Julio is Jason’s right-hand man, with expertise in carpentry, tile, stone, and concrete, as well as every level of interior and exterior improvements for commercial and residential clients. Part of the Nuance from the start, Julio is as hands-on as any other member of the team, and well-versed in custom design and installation.
When he’s not helping to design and build client’s dream spaces, Julio enjoys spending his downtime with his wife and three daughters in their Arlington, VA home.
